I want to be on the Jedi Council.

Which is why I'm proposing a new branch of the government. one that is by some sort of random, registrant based, appointment. similar to jury duty. only longer, and more involved. it' might be a way to get a real democratic cross-sectional representation in the government. and the whole "President" concept I think may be fostering corruption. maybe?

Anakin is a good representation of modern man perhaps? a charicature for sure, but in more modest degrees. do we indulge ourselves and get burned ever? consequently hardened and jaded? even indulging for the sake of our family, we think. it's all about perspectives there huh?

what motivates a Jedi? seems like it's a "universal good" based on strict principles that place logical, ethical ideals as paramount characteristics to indulge. good idea? seems like it. possible? seems like it, logically. promoted and embraced by the powers that be? doesn't seem like it.

a lot of the really minor, often newer religions have this common thread of pretty generally beneficial, definite instructions for day to day living. you know what the big religions do too, but some of their adherents are too distracted to adhere! instead, like the part of Anakin that suggests his immediate needs supercede the greater good for all of life, we trade in our version of idealism for what becomes our survivalism. we at least think it's for survival, though I think most of us could admit, they're extra. they're indulgences.

enter, stage left, the Matrix. dunn dunn dunnnnnnn

oh and some of us never look up enough to even develop any ideals, we simply bounce around from one indulgence to the next, tapping out it's ability to satisy.

something's going to have to sober us up. "secret weapons" that have protected us for so long may lose effectiveness as the world gets "smaller". I hope it's an intense education campaign brought to you by the Jedi Council, sponsored by Dan Myers jointly with the UN. or maybe first in the US, maybe I can get that started somehow.

knowledge knowledge knowledge! and then, after maybe a little break and some dirtbike riding, knowledge knowledge knowledge!

ideals. have them, strive to adhere. get a support network. take matters into "your own" hands though too... the whole anything worth having, is worth working for... but don't make me have only your ideals either. they just might be emotionally/selfishly /ID based, and that doesn't necessarily translate across all boundaries.

Been A While

Well that truck is long gone, thanks go out to all those who tried to help me sell it.

I have typed out multiple lines here twice now and deleted them, because I can't narrow in on any one topic!

People-amazingly complex. most times, we are the very source of our own stresses and worries. we control our chemicals and the way our neuro-network interprets how we feel. Tom Cruise was right, the drugs to help people with disorders only mask them. they treat the effects, not the cause.

Border control treats the effects, not the cause. the cause is a caste system in Mexico that marginalizes too many people made in God's image. the cause is an out of control capitalistic society that demands illegal labor to keep amenities affordable, and out of control tycoons that continue to drive inflation up to keep profits increasing.

Certain government assistance programs treat the effects, and not the cause. the problem the "down and out" have isn't the lack of opportunity, it's a lack of hope. with no hope, there is no motivation. with no motivation, there will be no significant efforts to improve oneself. now you can say 'but everyone has hope, there is no reason that I should have more hope than Poor Joe Average'. on an objective, level, ideal plane, we are all equals. each of us has something we could do to make us productive members of society. but not all levels of productivity are deemed valuable, therefore no one pays. Moreover, the only reality that exists to each one of you, is in your own head. never will another person know what makes you up at this very instant. a person with no hope cannot be told they have hope. they are only capable of seeing life through their experiences, and their perception IS their reality.

perception IS reality. heard that one at OBU alot, and just recently have really understood it's implications.

the greatest enemy any of us will ever fight lives in our heads. it says that we can't, we never could before. we won't, we always fall through. we aren't, after all, our butt sags and our smile is crooked. we shouldn't, cuz what if we try and can't and yada yada yada. it's really quite something to consider your absolute potential, and analyze what is in place and why, that keep you from reaching it. our media has a good grip on us, as well as our government, and our churches. each has an agenda that ultimately is not about each individual's well being, but about some people's well being.

it's possible to find someone, same sex or not, that will focus on your well being, but a good first step is to focus on someone else's.

oh and don't expect the media, government, or church to relenquish control, but do expect to fight for it. you were made in God's image, and that means your an ass kicker (not literally fights kids), end of story. just please use logic, and if you can't, seek those who can.

So I have a new job. I now work for Complete Pest Control, a small business based here in OKC, with a self-explanatory title. My best friend from 6th grade up until my sophomore or junior year or so is the son of the owner, and is now part owner, aka, my boss. It's been great so far, relaxed attitude, good people, drama like any other job, but room for infinite growth, pretty literally. I get a company truck, so far I've gotten a few good lunches paid for, and who knows what other perks. oh gas paid for too. the pay isn't great, but is double digit, and plenty of hours are available. Comission too if I get any new jobs so if you got bugs or squirrels or in-laws, give me a shout.

I effectively burned the bridge at Chili's. Turned in a notice, in typical bad-ass, in your face fashion that I feel is necessary for such occasions, then criticized too much I guess, and was told they'd take care of the rest of my shifts and I could go ahead and be done. I'm coming to realize that my expectations for the place are simply too high. Servers are as replaceable as wal-mart cashiers or tampons. And thats how I was treated.

The toyota is for sale. $2950.

194K miles. 4cylinder, 5 speed, no A/C from the factory, Pioneer CD player, new shocks, and new front rotors. It's a good truck, my parents have been drivin it and love it, just can't buy it. It runs real well for bein a 95 with the miles.

see ya

*edit* I almost forgot, one of the random doors I knocked on in Moore belonged to none other than the great Paul Franks, of Mustang class of '98 fame! Of course I had hoped his hot err lovely wife would be there so I could meet her, but no luck. Just another reason to love the job.

are y'all ready for this? (duh duh duh duh-duh duh duh duh duh.....yeah! duh duh duh duhduh yeah!)

so grubbs and I tried to figure out yesterday what mans very basic unit of instinct is (so to speak). we were trying to decide if ultimately, every decision we make is motivated by self-preservation. it was a pretty sweet discussion I have to say, and I think I may have discovered either the model that God used for creating us, or the model that man used to create God.

The question posed by Chad was basically-are altruistic acts counter to our biological nature? To answer that, we have to understand fully our biological nature, which I don't think we do yet. How much of our emotional nature is genetic? How much of our personality can be traced to parts of our DNA? granted I'm out of the scene a little right now, but I don't think we've figured these out fully yet.

The way I think it goes down is like this-
Without emotion, man has no incentive to act selfLESSly. Our biological functions, breathing, bloodflow, blinking, adrenaline production etc are all focused on self-preservation. That would suggest that any part of our mind (the intangibles still, for the most part, of our personality) that is genetic should be concerned with self-preservation. Yet every day, we make decisions, do things, think things that are for the good of others, or for the good of the community.

I think it is in our nature to promote communal well-being, even sometimes at the sacrifice of ourselves. I see us as moving from a model that favored self-indulgence to one that promotes the community. I envision a sliding scale, with "0" at the left end, and "100" at the right. 0 is the first community of human (or humanoid) whose actions were driven by the need to survive, at all costs, much like animals. But I think that once the first son or daughter was born, and accomplishment or pride or love or whatever you want to call it was felt, we've been moving to the right on the sliding scale. Because what do most people describe when asked about a perfect society? peace, love, harmony, HEAVEN. And whether we realize it or not, the worst would be one of absolute selfishness-HELL. In Heaven, you have no pride, no dissent, you give up your biological nature in order to satisfy your...  well, your other biological nature.

In summation, humans are by nature, emotional animals. Either from creation, or at a certain point in evolution, we realized survival of the fittest (self-indulgence) leads to what we'd call hell. So, if the ultimate focus is benefitting of the group, is that what you might call heaven? So liberals, whose ideals foster group survival, are trying to have heaven on earth. but they say in heaven, love comes first...  we'll make heaven a place on eeeeeaaaaarrrrrrth. Logically then, conservatives or the "might is right" faction of society is working towards hell.

you guys point out/fill in all the holes please!

Well there are still some stragglers here at 4 AM. the verdict? success! best party I've been a part of, all feedback points toward similar feelings all around. lessons learned? don't EVER host a party that is grand enough to charge entry, and make it on a "donation basis". people are cheap, dishonest, and disrespectful. I guess I should expect that by now. it just seems wrong to have to lower my expectations of my friends and my co-workers and my friends friends and so on.

tatiotty, you should have been here babe
